For September 2007, Louis Vuitton launches a brand new supple leather line, called Mahina.
This is a new opportunity for Louis Vuitton to invest in the soft leather territory, while relating to its heritage. This new line is the opportunity to complete the existing leather goods range with a permanent, soft, light and premium leather in which Louis Vuitton will develop seasonal models.
The Monogram is reinterpreted through the perforation technique and becomes an understated, subtle, elegant and totally legitimate signature. An association of modernity and elegance.

In the polynesian culture, Mahina is also the first woman which has explored new territories, which protects men during their journey and which is expert in the art of beating the tapa (vegetal fabric made of tree bark, usually offered for ceremonies). She has inspired Gauguin in his paintings.
